If you're ever going to take beer with you on a long trip (as in, a few months or longer), you want to make sure the beer will taste just as fresh, if not better, than the day it was bottled.  Hoppy or wheaty beers won't make it more than a month or three, and malty brews are doable but still lose a bit of their edge.  Big stouts and some sours, and especially bottle-conditioned varieties are a better bet.  This is the second-to-last of the beers I brought with me last June for my year studying in Kansas.  Nine…
