Every year in the middle of our conference, we take a moment out of having a few beers, to have a few beers really quickly. It is called Live Beer Blogging, and it is the speed dating of portion of our show. What you are reading right now was done within the hour we had with 10 different beers. The beers we tried were provided by J.J. Taylor Distributing Florida, Inc. at their warehouse in Tampa, Fl. So if you have had these beers, you should know what we are getting ourselves into. If you haven’t, here are our initial impressions.
Cigar City Brewing, Tampa FL / Decoherence
Coffee, Coconut, Chocolate Double Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout. And 12.8%, its a night ender. But it is rich and decedent.
Crooked Thumb Brewery, Safety Harbor FL / Grapefruit Gose
Very bready gose, with a strong front end grapefruit citrus.
Florida Beer Company, Cape Canaveral FL / Florida Lager
Cleaner, lite caramel and cracker. Really solid.
Lagunitas Brewing Company, Petaluma CA & Chicago IL / IPA
Starts green, great malt middle, with a balanced IPA finish.
New Belgium Brewing Co., Fort Collins CO & Asheville NC / Citradelic Tangerine IPA
Tangerine front, middle, and back, with decent hops.
Saltwater Brewery, Delray Beach FL / Screaming’ Reels IPA
Dank, earthy, very bold hops and hops. Summit and Columbus might be my new fav hop combo.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Chico CA & Asheville NC / Otra Vez
Clean cactus up front, and smooth bread and citrus back.
St. Pete Brewing Co., St. Petersburg FL / McCracken Scottish Ale
Caramel Malts, but medium-light body. Very drinkable without a sacrificing flavor.
Terrapin Beer Co., Athens GA / Watermelon Gose
Super candy watermelon on top of a great gose base. Refreshing.
JDub’s Brewing Company, Sarasota, FL / Milk Chocolate Porter / Passion Wheat
Chocolate and a good milk culture. Super passion fruit with solid wheat body.
